THE WORK

PORTRAIT FILM - PROCESS

We’ll get to know each other in a personal conversation. We’ll meet at a location of your choice and explore whether a collaboration is feasible. If so, the story of your life and its significance can begin to flow naturally. We’ll discuss your ideas for the portrait film. We’ll outline how your ideas can be brought to life.

We will explain our approach, the timeframe, and the resources required. Once we agree on the approach and the costs, we can begin.

We conduct interviews with you and record them. We can record audio or video, or you can choose to record yourself when you feel ready. It takes some getting used to cameras. Afterwards, we compile the digital footage into a film. You review the first draft of the film and can make any changes. Once the second draft is complete, you approve the final cut and give us the go-ahead for the final version.

The duration of the process varies depending on your availability and the length of the film. Most of our clients receive their film 2-4 months after the initial consultation.

The final film version will be sent to you electronically in duplicate. As a backup, we will keep a copy in our records for an additional month. You can choose to have all the recorded material deleted or to retain some/all of it for future use.
